Been in the UK for 3 Weeks

Yes, today is the 3 week anniversary of my repatriation to the UK. I celebrated by getting up early (well, earlier). I was down and finished my exercises by 9:30am! Nothing much occured this morning, and at 1:15pm, I went to get some food.

In Shanghai, I used to make pancakes with cheese and ham, so I thought I would make one today. The recipe for my fantastic pancakes is simple:-

1 egg
1 1/2 table spoons plain flour
water
salt to taste
(optional soy sauce)
Cheese cut into cubes
Ham cut into pieces

Mix the egg into the flour. Then add some water until it gets to a pancake mix like consistency. Heat some oil in a frying pan, and when it is hot enough, add the mixture. Once the bottom has solidified enough, add the toppings. Wait a bit more, and then fold the pancake in half. Job done.

However, although that sounds easy, when you try and do it on crutches it is not so simple. This snackette of mine took 45 minutes to complete! The pancake was good, but not good enough for me to make again until I do not need at least one crutch.

Gina came round at 4:50pm, and I took my stuff upstairs. We left for the Great Western at around 5:15pm, and as I got out of the car, Brian was walking down from the train station. I told him to go ahead, and that I would have a Guiness. I went to the entrance off the Coventry Road, and I sticked my way up the steps. Danny was already in there with a group of people. I got chatting to a guy called Dave who it turns out had a pin in his shin, and was on crutches for 6 months. He is also a contractor, and is working on Interior Trim at Aston Martin! What a small world (one for you there Mum). There was a football match on that was on the entire time that we were in the pub. I had 2 1/2 pints of Guiness to help ease the pain. Going down the stairs on the way out took a bit more concentration than on the way in…

We stopped near the Indian so that Danny could pick up the Indian portion of the take-away. We then went to West Street to pick up my kebab and chips, and Dad’s fish and chips. Once home, we heard tales of Dad drinking too much on holiday. Where they had moored, and such. Sounded like it all went well until someone had a bit too much wine at lunchtime and contracted what is known as “Wine Flu”. Suffice it to say, Dad did not have any wine tonight. He also put himself to bed at 9:00pm, so we knew he was in the dog house.

After dinner, we sat down and watch an episode of QI. Gina was not too pleased, as she thinks that Stephen Fry is a bit too pompus about it. “He has the answers in front of him!”, was the cry. I do recall her laughing at some of the show, so it could not have been all bad.
