Well. Here we are, 2 years on from the break. I am still in China, and my leg is becoming less of an issue every day now. I have started walking up the stairs at work rather than using the lift, as much to lose weight as to improve my leg. Read more…
As a further update, I have been mooching about without the aid of my crutch for a week now. I have taken to leaving one in the back of my car, and the other is near the front door at my parent’s.
I am still limping a fair bit as my knee is not quite right. Last Friday, I walked to the pub in record time (10 minutes), and when I got there, a friend of Danny’s who I have met before asked about my leg. I told him about my knee, and before I could say anything, he was feeling my thigh and knee. He proclaimed that it was some ligament / tendon type thing. It turns out he is a chiropractor, and he was used to feeling up people, although, I doubt I looked like the happiest of customers. I needed a couple of half shandies to take away the mental anguish. On a less homoerotic note, I am now walking around like John Wayne. Well, it’s either that or I am walking around like a serial self defecator. I prefer the former.
2 1/2 days of work before a well earned break (forgive the pun).
After doing a good 4 hours at work, I was fairly tired… Danny popped in on his way home from his morning / early afternoons sporting events (disc golf, adventure golf, boule(?) and pool). He thanked everyone for their presents and cards, and then he went back home to change, and Mum and Dad went to Sainsburys.

I got back from work at 5:45pm, and got changed. Gina picked me up at 5:55pm, and we went off to the Thai Elephant in Warwick for a meal. It is Danny’s birthday on Friday, and his mum came along, as well as a friend of Gina’s.

This morning I was very tired when I woke up. Probably because it is the first week I have done at work. Anyway, Dad picked my up at 12:00pm, and I was glad that it was not 5:00pm again.

Gina and Mum went into Stratford today to book their trip to India for my cousin Stephanie’s wedding. I asked them if they could get some ankle / wrist weights for me. I want to use them to build up my strength in my leg before I put full weight on it.

I got a call last night from Tracey saying that there were wasps going into the wall at the house. So, Dad and I went to Homebase this morning to get supplies. We just got some expandable foam. Dad said he needs some for the Tractor shed, so it was not an extra. Whilst I was waiting for Dad to pay, I noticed something that made me feel as if I was back in China.

Yesterday, I had decided that I would go to my apartment to make sure all was well. I could not connect to my VPN, so I knew something was up, it was just a case of finding out whether it was electrical or internetal. So, I was up earlyish, and had my normal breakfast, and then Dad took me to the apartment at around 10:45am.

Yes, today is the 3 week anniversary of my repatriation to the UK. I celebrated by getting up early (well, earlier). I was down and finished my exercises by 9:30am! Nothing much occured this morning, and at 1:15pm, I went to get some food.
In Shanghai, I used to make pancakes with cheese and ham, so I thought I would make one today. The recipe for my fantastic pancakes is simple:-

Again, as the title says, it is 5 weeks today since the surgery. More exercises done, and hopefully closer to a full recovery. It is 3 weeks tomorrow that I go to the hospital for further X-rays to see how the bone is healing. My scar has been a bit sore today, but massaging it seems to have helped it.
I was home alone today, and so breakfast took a bit of time to take through into the dining room. I had the usual Weetabix, and drank the milk from the bottle, (no one will ever know…). I did my post breakfast exercises, and relaxed in the chair for a while. Before I knew it, it was lunch time, so I made my way to the kitchen.
