Manic Monday… well, maybe not.

After the exercise I got yesterday at the field, today has been a relaxing day. Up and breakfasted by 10:10am.

I then updated my laptop to Vista SP2. This is hopefully a cure for my laptop occasionally saying that any memory stick that I put into it is “Unrecognized” (Curse those butchers of English). After a while, it sprang back to life again, and on entering Windows, nothing appeared different. I can only hope that a lot of things were done under the bonnet. However, I need to keep using my memory sticks to check that it has cured the problem. I gave it a try out by skyping Ma Yan, and nothing untoward happened, so fingers crossed.

I phoned up the hospital to query the appointment that I have had sent through the post. It is for the 17th July, which is a week and a day after I expected it to be. The receptionist was very pleasant, but ultimately not very helpful. I asked to be moved to the previous weeks clinic, and she said that Mr. Shah had booked a holiday for that day, and so was not available. I then asked about the week before that, and she said it was fully booked, but she would put me on the cancellations list. She said that she could not talk to Mr. Shah’s secretary to see if it was ok to go a week before he said, so I will have to cross that bridge if I do get a cancellation. JJ has agreed to me going back to work on the 6th July full time, which is good. I shall get Dad to take me and fetch me the first 3 days that week, and then Alan comes back from Shanghai on the 8th, and will be going to work on the 9th. Back to my old lift share, although this time it is more of a lift steal, as I will not be able to return the driving favour.

I got an email from Tracey as well. The main PC at Rugby appears to have whined it’s last breath. Mum is going to take me over tomorrow morning to take a look at it. It might be a terminal HD failure. If so, I need to try and recover what I can off the old drive, and use a spare HD in it. The drive in there is at least 5 years old, so it has done well. I also need to update the license on the laptop that Tracey is using as well. That is all to come tomorrow, so I will have a think about the best solution tonight.
